Come and Experience Z Zoul Café

AUTHENTIC SUDANESE CUISINE

A short story about us:

“Aref and Dalia Elgaali and their four children came to America in 2016. Upon discovering that San Francisco had no authentic Sudanese restaurants, they decided to bring the great taste of their homeland to the Bay Area.

Their collaboration is a labor of love with Aref re-creating family recipes passed down over generations for the soups, salads, and entrees. At the same time, Dalia specializes in taste-tempting desserts such as Baklava, Basbosa, and her delicious Dalia Rice Pudding.

Zoul means “friend” in Sudanese Arabic dialogue. The Elgaali’s welcome you to Z Zoul Café where their cuisine is perfect for those times when friends and family gather together.

What the press say about Z Zoul Café

1) Kitchen without borders

"I want to do something special—give guests a very good experience and make them feel like they are at home"

Aref Elgaali Chef & Co-Owner

2) San Francisco Chronicle

"Z Zoul, may be the Bay Area’s only Sudanese restaurant. While its owner is making repairs and meeting with agencies, it is still finding its way — a place to stop for spiced coffee or a dish called foul masalah. Yet it’s also a sign that the Tenderloin remains one of the few spots in San Francisco where a new immigrant, idealistic and impatient to work, can go into business for himself"

3) Elite Daily

"Let's face it, there's no quicker way to build connections with people than through food. In history, cuisine has been a way for people to create communities across the world, whether it's at the dinner table or at your favorite local restaurant"
